It’s been called the GC900, the LG Viewty II, the LG Viewty Smart and an all-encompassing combination of all three, but the one thing everyone agrees on is the latest big-megapixel touchscreen camera phone from LG is mighty impressive, regardless of what you want to call it!

LG have left behind the boxy design of the original Viewty and have chosen a more modern, sculpted look for the Viewty Smart GC900, a look complimented by the brushed metal-style rear panel and svelte 12.4mm thickness of the chassis - it’s a really fine looking mobile! The 3 inch touchscreen is a capacitive item and the operating system uses LG’s S-Class interface, which is both attractive and usable.

But like its predecessor, the Viewty Smart is all about the camera. The 8 Megapixel Schneider-Kreuznach lens sits off-centre on the rear of the phone, enabling one to hold the Smart like you would a simple digital camera. With a 16 million colour, 800×400 screen the Smart comes equipped with a very sharp viewfinder. But thats not all. The camera features face and smile recognition, LG’s ‘beauty’ shot, varying ISO levels or 30fps video shooting. The built-in GPS receiver enables geo-tagging of your pictures too!

The LG Viewty Smart GC900 is a 3G phone with HSDPA support and Wi-Fi, plays DivX/XviD movies and MP3 files, has an FM radio, an accelerometer for gaming and screen rotation plus Google Maps for the GPS. All in all, LG have stocked the Viewty Smart up with almost every feature you could possibly wish for, and makes an awesome phone!
